Cranky Hanky

As Hank-o has reached the terrible two's, I have to say they are way less dramatic that those of his sister.  Soph was always loud, screaming, thrashing, and generally acting ridiculous.  Hank's tantrums, while not so loud tend to last longer.  His MO is to just collapse onto the floor and refuse to move.  He has also been known to curl into the fetal position while lying on the floor in order to look as pitiful as possible.  This form of passive resistance is nice as it is quiet, but it is also difficult because walking away from him and ignoring his behavior does not work AT ALL.  He just lays there looking pitiful as the local British population stares at with pity and us with disapproval.

He is also adept at pouting.  I think he learned this from his sister.  He crosses his arm, puts his nose up in the air, and turns his back on the offender.  It is actually really cute, but we remain stoic in hopes of not encouraging the behavior.
This is the picture of a little boy who didn't get his way.  poor poor pitiful baby!  Just makes me want to scoop him up and love on him.  Of course, if one does this while he is in the middle of his tantrum, he arches his back, hangs over your arm and thrashes around until he almost falls.  It is best just to let him lay there until he feels better.  Sweet baby boy!

  2. I know that I should not enjoy looking at someone else's pain, but he is just so darn cute when he is pouting and doing his 'possum routine. I love your photos (and, of course, the stories that go along with them!!).

  3. While he may have learned some of the pouting from Soph - his Dad was quite the pouter as a child.
