Kids, Crafts, and Croc-a-gators

photos to be uploaded soon!

Someone (me) got the bright idea to let the kids do a craft yesterday. We pulled out a couple of those pre-staged crafts from Oriental Trading Company and set to work. The difference in the children is remarkable. I know that much of this is age and attention span at this point, but it was pretty funny none the less.

Sophia is super meticulous and everything has to be just perfect. At one point we were putting yellow spots on the croc-a-gator. On the instructions the spots were all over and made him/her look speckled. Sophia lined her spots up and down the croc-a-gator's back. Not only did she line them down his back, but she organized them according to size. The big dots went near his head, then the medium dots, then the small ones on his tail. It made me crazy and the Husband so proud. The Daddy recalls a time when he used to have to line all of his matchbox cars up just right before he went to bed or else he would not be able to sleep.

Hank was a little too young for the project but we tried it anyway. I put the glue dots on the pieces and let him stick them wherever he wanted. He managed to put the eyes in the correct place but they were all googly with each looking in a different crazy direction. The same happened with the critter's feet. Then came the dots....He stuck the dots all over the gator, then pulled them off, stuck them to the dogs, pulled them off, stuck them to himself, pulled them off, and put them in his mouth. When I told him not to put them in his mouth, he spit them all out...One at a time like a machine gun on fully automatic all over the floor. He thought this was pretty much the funniest thing he did all day and laughed like the little imp that he is. Sophia thought it was funny too until he tried to take the dots off her croc-a-gator!
