Christmas Fun

Twas the night before Christmas and no one was sleeping in the Beany house. We had told Sophia that she would be allowed to open a present on Christmas Eve. We failed to specify the time so the moment she woke up and determined the date, she wanted to open a present.

She chose to open the present from Auntie K and Uncle Giant. This was for two reasons...1) it was the biggest and 2) it was wrapped in princess paper. She was NOT disappointed!
Christmas Eve night was rough. Both kids were a little sick and NO ONE slept well. Mama woke up first and waited and waited and waited for everyone to wake up. I made some muffins, built a fire, and waited and waited. Finally Soph woke up and made her way downstairs. Dad and Hank were still asleep. Luckily, Santa doesn't wrap his gifts at our house, he just sets them all up ready for playing. Soph was so sweet that she asked if she could play with her things rather than running over and grabbing them. It was so cute to watch her. She was halfway asleep still pretty overwhelmed by what she saw. She didn't quite know what to do.
Hank and Daddy FINALLY woke up about a million years later. Hank is still a bit young to enjoy opening presents, luckily his sister takes great pleasure in helping her brother open his gifts!
Hank was pretty excited by the giant train table Santa delivered. This was one of the coolest presents ever, even the Daddy and I enjoyed playing with it.
Sophia opened a gift from her Aunt G and Uncle J which contained one of her favorite things EVER; a big fluffy, sparkly, twirly tutu. Christmas was paused while she ran upstairs to change her clothes. She had to change tops too so she would match perfectly!
Santa also brought a microphone and stand which immediately transformed both kids into superstars! I have never heard the ABCs sung so often and loudly!
After opening this gift both Soph and her mother were fully "made up" and looking super fancy. Now if only Soph would understand that the eyeliner pencil is NOT used for drawing pictures on one's cheeks and forehead!
Hank really liked his new wellies and his Buzz Lightyear too! He went around yelling, "To Infinity and...BEYOND." It didn't really sound like that, but we understood what he was saying/yelling.
The scooter was also a big hit. Soph liked it, but Hank REALLY liked it. He likes to stand on it and hold onto the handle while Soph pushes him around.

We had a temporary attack of HANKZILLA when he climbed onto the train table and began destroying the entire train town! He was really just trying to reach something on the other side, but he destroyed everything while trying to reach it.

This is what Christmas afternoon looked like at our house!  Complete exhaustion!
