Happy Beany Birthday!!

The 5th birthday party of Sophia Bean was a success!  The kids enjoyed an hour of swimming before heading to the party room for supper and cake!

When you put 20 children in a learner pool there is no need for organized birthday activities.  They had plenty of fun without us trying to force it upon them.

We headed to the party room after the swim for supper and cake with a nice luau theme.  Sophia picked out her party outfit all by herself, no need for a party dress, she stuck with the luau theme and went with shorts and a flowery tank top!  She looks so tired after swimming.

Birthday cake time!  The funniest thing was that after singing "Happy Birthday"  all the kids yelled, "Three Cheers! and Hip Hip Hooray!!"  It must be a British thing!

My favorite part of this photo is that every single child in this photo is shoving food into their mouth.  Swimming makes people hungry!!

Pinata time!  soph got to pull the first ribbon and darned if it didn't open the pinata and the other kids were a little bummed that they didn't get a turn!  They got over it pretty quickly when they started the scramble for the loot!

the cake!  Poor cake had a rough time of it!  We had the fondant octopus almost sorted out when Hank came into look at it and then took off running.  The little weasel had snatched the head of the octopus from the cake and shoved it in his big fat mouth!  Luckily, an octopus head isn't exactly hard to make.  THEN on the way to the party, a plate of snacks fell onto the cake and decapitated the darn octopus again.  Poor guy.  At that point, I wasn't in a position to fix the poor guy.  It was okay as only an hour or so later the kids chowed down on it and no one cared!
