60 Mile Per Hour Winds
Uncle Giant and Auntie K took us on a hike today. When checking the weather this morning, Uncle Giant noted that the wind on the mountain was 60 miles per hour. We scoffed and simply packed an extra layer. The hike was great and the view were amazing. We all really enjoyed ourselves as we made our way up the mountain.
As we rose above the tree line we realized just what the weather channel was talking about. In fact, I believe that storms are categorized as hurricanes at 75 mph. We were pretty close.
Not sure if you have ever experienced 60 mile per hour winds, but they are even worse at 12,000 feet elevation and 40 degrees. At one point I thought I was going to be knocked off the side of the mountain by a particularly intense gust. In addition, if I faced in the direction of the wind, it actually took my breath away. This was not exactly a good thing since I was already sucking air because of the altitude.
The Big Bean used me as a wind break and walked in front of me the whole time. The Little Bean LOVED it. She laughed and giggled as we walked along. Of course, she was being carried the whole way and also had a sun/rain/wind shield to protect her.
Now we are sitting in the living room relaxing and recovering for the crazy hike. We will all sleep well tonight. Enjoy the photos below.
Below is a lovely picture of the Daddy and his baby bean. The Little Bean LOVES riding in the backpack. Whenever the Daddy stops or slows down she kicks her feet into his back while emitting a high pitched screeching sound to insist that he get moving Here is a family pic. Sadly, the Big Bean didn't make it into this one, but is in others. She loved the hike and was so thankful that this area is dog friendly and allows pets to go everywhere. We hiked for a total of four hours and about 6 miles and the Big Bean is exhausted. She is currently laying in her bed sound asleep!
Here is one with my baby!
Here is a lovely photo of Uncle Giant and Auntie K. They have been kind enough to allow us to squat in their basement for the past couple of days as we are currently homeless.
Here is a photo that we took of the Little Bean and the Cousin working out the final details of their escape plan. The Husband and I can't believe how much the Cousin and the Beans have loved hanging out together. We are pretty sure that we will be getting a puppy soon. Especially since we can't convince her to come and live with us. That conversation was recorded below. Here is one with my baby!

Here is a happy picture of the Little Bean in her backpack. Note the two goofy front teeth peeking out of her smile.
Here is an example of the Hell Cat. She hates being put into the pack if we are not ready to move. She sits there and cries until the Daddy lifts her up and starts on our hike.
These photos are from last night. The Little Bean can be seen with a diabolical smile on her face as she prepares to make a huge mess of her cousin's water.

What a beautiful family -- diabolical and outdoorsy as they are. MJ
