15 Month Check-Up

The Little Bean had her 15 month check-up yesterday and it was quite an interesting event. So far, she has been an eager participant in her Dr. appointments, but yesterday was a different story entirely. She enjoyed waiting in the lobby for the appointment because she made lots of friends, she enjoyed waiting in the exam room for the Dr because she colored and played with the Daddy, but when the Dr. came in, she turned into a different little girl. She turned into a wild and crazy little girl. She fought the head measuring event, she fought the stethascope, she fought the eye and ear exam. The only thing that she did well at was the mouth and tooth exam because she had her mouth wide open and screaming bloody murder the whole time. Thank goodness the Daddy goes with us to these appointments because he held her still during the somewhat abbreviated exam. The Dr. recommended that we get a toy medical kit and practice using the stethascope and whatnot.
Then came the......immunization. She got the worst one in my opinion, the DTP. It is for tetenus, whooping cough, and diptheria I think. She felt pretty bad last night and went to bed early. She also hasn't felt very good today. Poor little girl.
All the research I have done mentions that it is normal for children to go from good kids to super brats at around 15 months as they are trying to figure out just how independent they are. They realize that they have free will and then get super frustrated when their plans are foiled by their evil mother. I don't know how long this lasts, but I hope it is a quick phase.
Sugar! The source of so many tantrums.
If you think 15 months is fun, wait for 3. Buwahahaha!!!! Come on, you know she's an angel; just look at that face ;)
ReplyDeletehello,
ReplyDeleteI didn't know until last night that we could write comment's. I love reading about Sophie's adventures. Brandy have you ever thought about writting a book, you describe in such great detail, I feel like I'm there.
Dawn is correct about things only getting more crazy as the kids get older. I love Sean with all my heart but the things that boy comes out with oh my! I told him the other day I've spent more time talking about "poop" with him then ever in my whole life.
Now about the snake, I would have been running away. We have a lizard living on our patio and I make Bud check on it's where abouts before I can walk out the door. Drives him Crazy.
