Like Her Mother After All!

The Little Bean has shown that she is more like her father than anyone else around here. She is so much like him when it comes to being OCD that it cracks me up! Yesterday she was walking from the living room into the dining room and had to stop on her way in order to close a book that was laying with the cover open! Once she had closed the book, she toddled on over to finish what she had started. As you can imagine, she did NOT get that from me!

But finally, after being a little clone of her father, she has shown herself to have something in common with me...Books! In the past few days, she has been obsessed with looking at her books. She will bring them to me, climb up on my lap and will look and look. Her favorites are books with photos of animals or babies. She squeals at them in excitement and points out their eyes, ears, noses, and hair! It is too cute! I am hoping that her interest in books will continue until she is big.

That and her interest in animals. We were watching National Geographic channel the other day and there was a hippopotamus on there. She screeched and pointed and got so excited. This lasted the whole show. I could barely hear what they were talking about because she screeched so loudly at every new shot of hippo and I had to acknowledge every single one. I am really looking forward to going to the zoo next month.

She is also making some verbal developments. In the past weeks, she was very busy learning how to run and climb, and now I think she has switched over. If she feels like it, and ONLY if she feels like it, she can tell you that a cat says, "meow" and that a cow says "moo" and that a dog says "woof." You have to make the sound first, but she will then mimic you. Yesterday, I was whistling for the Puppy Bean and she made her lips into an "O" shape and made a whistle sound. It was definitely NOT whistling, but it was cute all the same. She also poked her finger in my eye and said, "eye." I thought it was a fluke, but now she says "eye" every time she pokes me, her father, the dogs, or herself in the eye! :)

She wanted the Daddy's hat and he wouldn't give it to her because she kept throwing it. As you may be able to tell, she was less than pleased.

  1. when you go to the zoo make sure to see the monkeys between 11am and 2pm. The crawl on the Oline outside above picnic tables...she'll love that!
