We are back from the Gran's house and we brought with us a zillion pieces of my Grandparent's old furniture. Among them was a twin bed that we put up in the Little Bean's room. We thought it would take a long time to transition from her crib/big girl bed into the full fledged twin bed. We put the bed up in her room and left the crib/bed in place so she could decide where she wanted to sleep and we wouldn't be rushing her. I thought it would take a few days or even a week, but the Husband disagreed. Turns out, he was right! She insisted on sleeping in the big bed the first night! We put rails up because this bed is way higher than her crib/bed, and she jumped right in. I was shocked.
She continued to shock me when she lay on the bed with her Daddy and listened while he read her a book. This is not normal for our daughter as she has the attention span of, well, her father! :) She can't stand to sit still and listen to a book, she wants to hold it and turn the pages and jump around, etc. To she her sitting there entranced while her father read to her was really surprising! I guess maybe she is growing up or something!
Speaking of growing up, we went to the store today to get stuff for her 2nd birthday. Out of what seemed like a million different options to include Dora, Diego, and Nemo, she insisted on having a Puppy birthday. We were really looking for horses but all they had were My Little Pony and she wasn't having any of that. She just kept talking about the puppies, so puppies it is. I also tried to show her how to tell people that she is going to be two years old. She was not buying it. She insists that she is, in fact three years old. I kept saying, "two," and she responded with, "No, mama, three!"
I think she just likes to disagree! Lately when we say, "Okay," her response is, "Nokay!" It doesn't matter if we are offering her candy, she still says, "Nokay!" She also says, "No Deal!" when we say, "Deal," regardless of what deal is being offered.
