Snow Bean

While down at my parent's place this weekend, we were lucky enough to get a little bit of snow. I was so excited about seeing it falling that I insisted that everyone get bundled up and go and play outside. It was super cold and even though we didn't get a great deal of snow, the roads iced over rather quickly.

The Little Bean enjoyed watching the snow from inside and really wanted to play in it, but balked when faced with putting on her jacket, boots, and gloves. We managed the first two, but gave in over the gloves. For some crazy reason, the child insists on wearing socks on her hands instead of mittens. We just let it go and out she went with her sock hands. She also insisted that "puppy" was cold and had to zip the stuffed dog up in her coat to keep it warm.
The first place my daughter goes when released into the wild at her Grandparent's house is to the watering trough. Ever since she discovered that frogs live there, she bee-lines for the trough as soon as she gets out the door. She also loves to pick up the hickory nuts from the ground and chuck them into the trough. It didn't work out so well for her this time as the water was frozen and the hickory nut exploded out of its shell on impact with the ice. She exclaimed something along the lines of "Oh No! Water gone!" Then Nahla put her on top of the ice and she discovered just how cool it is to slip and slide around. We finally had to wrestle her back inside the house because we were freezing. She, like most kids, was unaffected by the cold and was not at all interested in going back inside.

  1. Just wait until you bean gets to come up north and play in the snow. We have about 6 inches on the ground. Bring her snow clothes her and P will have a blast in the sled.
