Stirling - The Good News and The Bad News
The Good news is that Stirling Castle was the coolest and we had an awesome time visiting there. The bad news is related to the worst hotel ever and a minor injury sustained by the Little Bean.
After we toured Loch Ness and the Uruquart Castle, we drove down to Stirling so we could start the day bright and early at the castle. We arrived in town in the middle of the night. We chose to stay at the Holiday Inn Express because of the name recognition and the location. BIG mistake. In addition to having to change rooms and make our own bed up on the fold out couch they expected us to PAY for the internet! This is after we had already paid $120 for the room. I thought ALL hotels had free internet. McDonalds has free internet for goodness sakes!!! Because it was so late, we just accepted our defeat and went to sleep. I am pretty sure that was our last stay at Holiday Inn.
The next morning we got up bright and early to head up to the castle. As everyone was getting ready the Little Bean took a heavy coffee mug into the shower to use as a cup to rinse her hair. Just as she stepped into the shower, she tripped and fell hitting that bone on the outside bottom of her eye. A knot raised up immediately and it didn't take long for her whole right eye to turn black. Poor little baby! After she recovered from the initial pain, she didn't seem to be disturbed by the incident....until she saw herself in the mirror with a big giant black eye! She then became a bit obsessed with it and wanted to see it all the time. She showed her eye to anyone who would look at it and would look in the mirror and say, "my poor little eye".
The poor kid looks like a little street urchin or something. With her black eye and her odd choices in fashion she is just a mess.
We checked out of the hotel and headed to Stirling. This is the Robert The Bruce and William Wallace defeated the English in different attempts to take over Scotland. There is a huge monument to Robert The Bruce who eventually went on to become King of Scotland, but there was a much larger monument to William Wallace.
We were allowed to visit the great hall of the castle which was set up for a feast we took the liberty of sitting in the seats of the Lord and Lady. You might be able to see that my feet couldn't touch the ground.
That afternoon we headed up to Edinbourgh where we stayed in the BEST B&B ever. It was absolutely first rate! More on that tomorrow.
That Little Bean is a tough cookie and even with a black eye...you will never take her FREEDOM! Sorry, had to be done. The pics are the COOLEST!
