Loch Ness

We hit the road early the next morning to go to Inverness and then on to Loch Ness in search of the monster! The above in the center where we went to learn all sorts of stuff about the Loch Ness monster. It was really quite interesting even though my husband declared it all a big load of malarky! I insist on believing despite evidence to the contrary.

A view of the Loch. Absolutely gorgeous country up in the northern part of the country.
We think the expression on the Baby Bean's face is pretty funny. It is as though he just found out there was a monster in the loch behind him!

We were unable to locate Nessie but still had a great time.
The Little Bean was pretty excited about the gift shop. She wanted to get a stuffed Nessie for just about everyone she knew. We ended up with her choosing a PINK Nessie. I am pretty sure if Nessie exists, she/he is not pink. But who knows. She even took a number of photos of her new stuffed monster.

On the edge of Loch Ness is an old crumbly castle from around 580 AD. I have a really difficult time getting my head around the fact that I am in a castle built over one thousand and four hundred years ago. The castle had been built, broken down, and rebuilt about a zillion times between then and now. The only original part of the castle was the basement/cellar/underground chamber area.

We had a fantastic time exploring the castle and the real working siege engines outside.

The cliff was built on a hill right on the edge of the loch. My little daredevil insisted on trying to give me a heart attack repeatedly that day.

Then we were off to our next destination...Stirling Castle. This is my favorite in tact castle so far. Unfortunately, by the time we got to Edinbourgh I was a bit castled out. UNTIL we were able to see the actual crown and sceptor worn by Mary Queen of Scots. That was seriously impressive.

Then back on the road again to see Stirling Castle.
