Random Updates

Recently the weather was in the 50's and there was, *gasp*, sunshine! It was so nice. We opened the doors from the sunroom out to the yard and the Little Bean carried her chair and step stool outside and made herself a little nest for a picnic!

Today the Little Bean was playing with her brother. He grabbed hold of her to avoid falliing down. She looked up at me and said, "Mama! My brother's claws are sharp!"

I guess that means I need to cut his fingernails.
The Baby Bean is growing quickly and picking up on things WAY too quickly. He is now focused on learning to run. He gets going really fast and then leans over and touches the ground to steady himself right before he falls! His run is more of a speed walk, but he gets the bounce in now and then.

His sister has also taught him how to jump on the bed. He climbs up onto her bed and holds on to either her or the rail and jumps all over the place. Sometimes he even does his jumping while not holding onto anything. That doesn't always turn out so well, but it doesn't stop him.

He has also mastered going up and down stairs. He still goes down the stairs backwards, but he is pretty fast. We have had to put gates at the bottom AND top of the stairs. Before we put the one at the top of the stairs he would always walk really slowly to the stairs just waiting for someone to notice. When we see him, he smiles the cutest smile, takes off running and giggling towards the stairs. This games stresses me out, but he seems to think it is hilarious.

He is also crazy about wires, cables, outlets, plugs, and night lights. We are CONSTANTLY pulling him away from the outlets and cables. He does the same thing with the cables as he does with the stairs. When he sees one unsecured he smiles the most impish little grin and inches towards it until someone blocks his path.

That boy has the most wonderfully charming smile I have ever seen! I have a feeling this is going to cause trouble in the future. :)

As for talking, he is not the saying much just yet. He jabbers CONSTANTLY which makes me worry that when he begins to talk he will be a chatty cathy, just like his sister.

Both the kids enjoy music and love to dance. There is a lot of dancing going on in our kitchen. The Little Ban loves the songs Lollipop and Locomotion. The Baby Bean doesn't care which song it is so long as he can dance dance dance! He even dances when his sister and I sing the alphabet song. That boy is a dancing machine!

His teeth are all crazy. The boy has two bottom teeth and four top teeth. He is now getting his canine teeth on top and two molars on the bottom. Apparently he missed the tooth order class. Oh well, he seems to be on his own schedule with everything else, why not his teeth. :)

As for the Little Bean. She continues to surprise us constantly with her insight, memory, and problem solving. I am afraid she is smarter than her father and me! She is super excited about going to see the Nahla soon. She asks about it every day. Poor kid is having a hard time getting her head around the concept that Nahla is really far away. We have a kids version of a world map on the wall and she points out where we live and where Nahla lives and the ocean in between. Lately she has been asking us to draw pictures of airplanes instead of her usual horse requests. I guess she is really focused on flying to see Nahla.

Physically, she is into jumping, flipping, rolling, and trying to do headstands. She is also completely OBSESSED with jumping over things. She will set up an obstacle course for herself and see how far she can get. She jumps off of Daddy's ottoman over the Little People castle she has set up, lands and then does a flip, leaps up and jumps over some other toy she has placed in the floor. I let this go but draw the line when she wants to jump over her brother.

She is doing well with letters and numbers and has developed a love of books. She will sit by herself for a long time "reading" her books. She is really just making up stories about the pictures in the book, but I think it is sweet. She also LOVES to tell stories and can come up with some really interesting tales. After I tell her a story at night or read her a book, she insists on telling ME a story. These things can go on FOREVER and the other night I fell asleep while she was telling her story. She was SERIOUSLY offended and insisted I sit up for the remainder of her story.
While I was folding laundry the other day, Soph decided that Daddy's ottoman would make a perfect bed. she gathered blankets and pillows and snuggled herself up in the ottoman.

  1. Thanks for the great update. When do your other two babies join you guys? I can't believe how much both of the kids have grown. It is great looking at the old posts and comparing them! Keep up the awesome work!
