Bits and Pieces

He is just like his sister. Their eyes tell when they are sickly.
The poor baby bean has been getting his eye teeth/canine teeth, or as daddy calls them, his tiger teeth! The top two have come through but the bottom two are just torturing the poor child. This has been going on since our vacation and is only getting worse. He is having fevers and not wanting to eat and sometimes he just cries and cries and cries. It is the most pitiful thing EVER. When he isn't crying, sleeping, or trying to bite anything in sight, he is attached to me like a spider monkey! The child has gone from sweet snuggle bunny to a crazed marsupial, except, I have not pouch! :) While mowing the yard today I held him in one arm and pushed the mower with the other. Same thing with sweeping, vacuuming, etc. Poor Sophie girl has handled it pretty well and I let her stay up for about 30 minutes after Hank-o goes to sleep so we can snuggle or play games. I suffered a humiliating defeat at "go fish" last night. Sophia enjoyed gloating and rubbing in the fact that she was the winner, which meant I was the looser! Nice.

We got this little trampoline at the recycling center for only pounds. It paid for iteslf in the first day! The background is all the tent pieces we had to clean after the big vacation.

We went to the donkey sanctuary today and had a lovely time! In the main yard the nice snuggling donkeys mill around with the visitors. The kids loved petting them and loving on them. Many of the donkeys at the sanctuary are injured, really old, and/or abused. These guys get the medical care they need and are slowly rehabilitated. They never go back to work, but some are fostered out to be taken care of by various people on farms etc.
Anyway, there was one donkey who was 33 years old. He was wearing a coat and a covering over his face. Sophia wanted to know why and I responded that I didn't know. She put her hands on her hips and asked, "who is in charge of this place?" I pointed out the lady working in the main yard. Sophie politely walked over, said "excuse me" and asked her question. The answer was that he poor donkey had bad reactions to fly bites and they covered him up to protect him. Now we know, thanks to Soph.

When we arrived at the donkey sanctuary Sophia looked around and told me, "mama, last time we were here it was snowing." Really!?! Do three year olds really remember that well. It was eight or so months ago. Wierd kid.

The first week of school was very successful. Sophia is really enjoying school this year and has begun taking care of some of the new younger children, specifically the ones who are having a difficult time adjusting.
Hank has enjoyed his mommy time at home with me. He is staring to talk more and more. We came downstairs in the middle of the night to get some medicine for his mouth. I put him in the recliner and he found the remote. He pointed it at the TV and said, "scooby-doooooo!" He also shakes his head for yes or no and uses his signs very effectively.

Sorry for the randomness of the post. Sleep deprivation.
