Hatfields and McCoys

In the past week something strange has come over my children...they have been nice to each other. They have played together, sat with each other while watching Scooby Doo, and even...shared. Not sure what is happening but I like it.

Don't get me wrong, much of the time they go back to trying to decapitate each other with tiny princess dolls and plastic horses. In between the bouts of violence and frustration they are so sweet.

Part of it must be related to growing up, part due to pre school and practice treating everyone appropriately, and part caused by Hank's feeling sick for the past week. Those incisors are just torturing the poor boy and coupled with a nasty cold he feels awful, and for Hank, awful means super clingy/snugly. He has started to sit and snuggle with Sophia. This has somehow caused Sophia to feel all motherly and nurturing instead of jealous and spiteful. She holds his hand, plays ball with him, hugs him when he gets hurt, and is generally sweet with him. He loves it as he now has three people to snuggle with and wallow on.  If he falls or hurts himself she rushes to his side and hugs him.  He lays his little head on her shoulder while she rubs his hair.  This also happens if Hank gets angry with me because I take something away or tell him no. He generally flings himself on the floor in a super dramatic fit of rage and indignation.  Soph usually goes and hugs him and then they are off playing in just a few minutes.

BUT the whims of a one year old and a three year old are ever changing. The least little thing can cause one child or the other to fly off the handle and return their relationship to that of a couple of Hatfields and McCoys.
this is the outfit Little Miss Independent put on this evening after her bath. Lately she has insisted on getting out of the tub, drying off, putting on her lotion, and getting dressed all by herself. Not only all by herself, but also in her room with the door shut. When she is all ready she makes her grand entrance insisting we all sit in the same room so she can reveal her outfit to everyone at once. Really?!?!
