How Hard Can It Be?
The photo above, while really silly and goofy shows the little mullet curls of my sweet baby boy. I loved his mullet curls and knew when they were cut off, he would probably never have curls again. Unfortunately, they also made him look a bit like a girl. After long deliberations, the husband and I decided to cut my baby's hair. How hard can it be to do it ourselves....please see the photos below.
The cutting of the mullet curls went without incident, but once the short cut started he became a moving target. It is really hard to cut hair when the child is moving in a million different directions and giggling like he just discovered the most hilarious game ever.I personally like the bangs that are cut at an angle. The hairdressers almost had a heart attack from laughing when we got to the salon.
Just a side view to see the "fade".
The salon is designed just for little kids and is quite an ingenious idea. You can see in the background the carousel horse. This is one of the seats for the little ones to get their hair cut. There are also tvs with dvd players at every station and a supply of yogurt covered raisins available to distract the little beasties while the stylist cuts their hair.
Hank got to sit in the airplane chair and chose Scooby Doo as his movie. As you can see from his eyes in the photo he is pretty entranced by the cartoon.
He was such a fantastic little boy while getting his hair cut. He sat still, didn't cry and spent most of the time watching the lady cut his hair in the mirror or watching Scooby Doo. He flirted shamelessly with his sylist and even danced along to one of the songs on Scooby Doo as she laughed at him and his "moves."
By the time he was nearly finished with the haircut Hank was just about to fall asleep. Haircuts have the same affect on the Daddy too. He almost always falls asleep in the barber chair. Hank's sleepiness could be genetic or it could be the fact he had just finished an hour of gymnastics right before his appointment. It could be a combination, who knows.

First, let me thank you for the hysterical laughter that this post brought to me - and while it was at your baby boy's expense, it was so funny. Mama and Daddy, you both possess LOTS of skills but cutting hair is not one of them. Your poor boy looked like a MONK with dull scissors and no mirror. Good thing he is handsome and can pull off anything you do to him, but thank goodness for child salons. :)
ReplyDeleteHank-o looked absolutely adorable with both haircuts!! I just love reading your blog. Thank you so much for keeping it up so faithfully.
ReplyDeleteno wonder Hank-o was flirting with the hair dresser he has good taste...
