Researching Our Ancestry

Our fantastic friend M came over for a visit last week. In addition to having a great visit, we also spent time checking out the location of her English ancestors. Unfortunately for the Husband, she also got me crazy into researching our family roots too! It is REALLY interesting and satisfying to find census records of one's great great great great great great etc. grandparents and the boat they took from Ireland, England, Germany, etc. I am a little stuck on the Native American ancestry on both my and the husband's side, so if anyone has any information to include names, dates, numbers, etc please email me and I will include it and tell you if I find any addition information that can be verified and documented!
The photos below are of a village called Hartland.  This is one of our friend M's towns and she wanted to take a look around, get photos of the old area where the house was located, check out the cemetery, and the records office.  We had an awesome time as Hartland is located on the sea with the most dramatic scenery.

The rocks behind the Little Bean were super cool.  They look like shale that has slid down the eroding cliffs.  There are signs all over the area warning of the unstable rocks.

A few updates on the kids and family:

Hank-o has gone crazy with his gymnastics.  The original idea of putting he and Soph in the classes was to find an outlet for their jumping, leaping, flipping, etc.  Rather than providing an outlet, the classes seem to just give them more ideas of new and dangerous stunts.  Hank, in particular, has used gymnastics to hone his skills as a crazy spider monkey.  The classes have given him the strength, balance, and worst of all, the confidence to be able to do some seriously crazy things for a boy who is ONLY 20 months old.  The husband had to install a shelf very high (5'5") on the wall to stop Hank from getting the phone.  (The phone was previously situated on a table we purchased specifically to be high enough to stop the kids from grabbing the phone!!!)  This worked for about a second until Hank managed to climb onto the telephone table, do a PULL UP on the shelf above his head and then hang on with ONE hand while grabbing the phone with the other.  He even managed to get down without killing himself.  AND this all happened in the span of a nano second when I blinked.

Sophia is having a growth spurt as well as a brain growth spurt.  She is growing tall so quickly that I can't believe it.  The child is almost all legs; scrawny knobby knee-ed legs.  The real impressive thing is her brain spurt.  She suddenly remembers EVERYTHING.  We sing a song just a few times and she has it memorized.  She has also caught on to the way we put her name in lots of the songs we sing to her.  Tonight she was singing me a night night song and it started out this way, "Hush little mama don't say a word."  She also gave me the sweetest compliment ever.  As we were saying goodnight, I told her that I loved her and that she was my sweetheart, she replied that she loved me to and that I was her mama.  I think that means that sweetheart and mama are comparable!
