Thanksgiving

Since the husband/daddy is STILL away for training (this is week 8) we didn't have much of a Thanksgiving dinner. We did have some yummy pizza from Pizza Hut. We almost always have pizza on Thursday after Soph's gymnastics class. Mainly because by the time we get home everyone is so hungry they can't wait for supper to be cooked. Even without the turkey, we had a lovely Thanksgiving and discussed all the things we are thankful for. My favorite is Soph's quote, "My Baby Hank." I thought it was a cute way of identifying him. She also listed candy, her blankie, hiking, and the beach. Once she got started it was hard to stop. Even a few hours after we had the conversation she would stop playing and tell me other things she had just remembered she was thankful for.

This is also the little girl who sat on the couch and mumbled to herself, "Dear God, thank you for my candy. Amen" just the other day before tearing into a pack of fruit bites. It was so super cute. All the schools in the UK are Church of England so they say prayers before they eat. I guess she thought candy should be included.

Anyway, unrelated to pizza or Thanksgiving we have some photos of our friend M, the kids and I visiting Lyme Regis. If you are not a Jane Austin fan, this town probably doesn't ring a bell. Regardless of your interest in Austin or her novel Persuasion, it is a gorgeous village and has the typical dramatic cliff/shore/weather combination we see a lot of down in the South West. It never gets old. Another thing that never gets old; calling Lyme Regis, Slime Regis. I realize this is proof that my emotional maturity is on the same level as a three year old, but it cracked me up every single time. Feel sorry for our friend M, she had to endure this ridiculousness during her entire visit. :)

After Hank nearly jumped/fell into the freezing water while chasing a seagull we decided the best thing for us would be to have a little picnic on the cobb while our friend M walked along to see the whole thing. This is where we found out that Hanko likes olives, both stuffed with garlic and Italian. Sophia....not so much.

Soph started to go with M along the cobb, but it was super windy so she came back to hang out with Hank.

As we were walking along the village coast, Sophia was super protective of her impulsive 20 month old brother. She followed him closely and would chase him away from anything she determined to be dangerous. It was like watching the human version of a sheep and a border collie! :)

Lyme Regis is a super gorgeous town in the off season. Based on what we saw, I would not recommend visiting during the summer as it looks like a huge tourist destination. The fall/winter is so nice as the only people around are the locals and a few tourists. People are much more friendly and relaxed and one have the beach and boardwalk almost all to themselves.
