Poor Poor Daisy Girl

Good news....I found the SD card!
Bad news....Daisy got trapped in a mud pit while hiking on the common.
More good news....Daddy was there to fish her out and save her from dying like the dinosaurs in the La Brea Tarpits!

So there we were...hiking on the common.  It had been raining and to every one's excitement there were tons of mud puddles and little streams to splash around in.  As we were coming around a curve in the road we saw Cash and Daisy up to their chests in this huge mud puddle.  The mud puddle was starting to dry up so the mud wasn't all watery like normal, but was more like a QUICK SAND death trap!

When Daisy was ready to get out, she struggled for a second before realizing she was stuck.  Then she sort of panicked (if dogs panic) and started thrashing around.  At one point she was laying on her side and her face was going into the mud.  Her nose was in the mud and it looked like she couldn't breath.  This is the point where I FREAKED OUT!  Luckily, Daddy was there to remain composed in the face of a potential catastrophe.  He calmly stepped into the edge of the mud and pulled Daisy to safety, saving my girl from a muddy demise.
Cash was struggling in the mud pit as well, but as he is eight years younger and has super long crazy legs, he was able to free himself without much trouble.

We headed home as soon as we got Daisy out of the mud and hosed her off before allowing her in the house.  Normally she doesn't care to get rinsed off, but this time I think she kind of liked it.
Notice Cashy hiding in the back....notice the gate is closed in the front of the picture.  Cash is 100% against being rinsed with the hose and has to be confined lest he run to the farthest part yard and hide, refusing to come when called no matter what reward is offered or what punishment is threatened.  (i guess he thinks the water hose is punishment WAY worse than anything we could think up.)  In the end, they were both rinsed off and were jumping around like crazy clean dogs do.
Daisy was a bit sore for a few days, but is all back to normal.  I doubt this will stop her from leaping headlong into any mud puddles she sees.  Oh well, hope Daddy is there if it happens again.
