Petting Zoo

The family went to a little petting zoo thing over the weekend and the kids had a wonderful time.  The animals were so very mellow, the chickens even liked being petting.  I have never in my life known of a chicken who likes to be handled and loved.  Hank loved all the animals, but preferred the quiet little bunny.

Sophia discovered a sweet little baby deer.  If any of the animals on the farm are rejected by their mothers, or are sickly, etc, they usually end up in the petting zoo part after they get medically cleared.  They are so used to being with people that it is an easy transition to move to the petting zoo.  Sophia was so excited to bottle feed this sweet little fawn.

The goats can never be forgotten.  The names of the two babies were Salt and Pepper.

Sophia and Salt had a little visit and walk on a leash.  Mainly the goats go wherever they want and the children just try and keep up and hold onto the leash.

I have been here for two years now and I still think it is funny to use the word "poorly."

They call this activity "bottle feeding lambs" but as anyone can see, these "lambs" are nearly grown up.  This doesn't seem to disturb the lambs or the children who both enjoy the activity equally.

The fawn and Sophia really hit it off.  :)
