Robot Dairy

While up in Wisconsin we had the chance to visit a fancy new dairy farm. The cows are all milked by a "robot". The robot is kind enough to work 24/7 allowing the cow to go in for milking whenever she feels like it.
The machine reads a chip on her necklace that tells him all about the cow and then processes all sorts of information while she is being milked from her weight to the amount of milk she produces to how much grain she eats while being milked. It also alerts the farmer if she has mastitis or any other medical issue it can detect. Pretty cool.
Soph and Hank were more impressed with the barn cats and the two puppies.
I loved all the cows and even got to rub one's ears. Reminded me of my sweet cow, Freckles!
