Road Trip - Day 5

Saturday
The Little Bean refused to sleep last night and insisted on playing around until 2330. Since we are in the tiny Gypsy Wagon it is not possible to put her in her bed and walk away. We had to keep laying her down with her blankie. She would lay there for a minute, then sit up and giggle at us, then crawl all over us as we pretended to be asleep, hoping she would get the picture.

The Husband said he would put her in her stroller and take her for a walk. I balked at this since when we checked into the campsite, the ranger guy told me, there was a pack of coyotes in the area, as well as a pack of wolves, and a bear that had been making trouble in the camping area. Finally, after exhausting all of my patience on the Little One, I let her father take her outside to face the wild animals. They saw NOTHING. The baby went to sleep and all was well.

This morning we got ready to hit the road, only to discover that we had missed the biggest waterfall in the park. We decided to do the hike and then hit the road. We chucked the Little Bean into her backpack, and set off for the falls. The Little Bean LOVES to be in the backpack. She also loves when the wind blows on her face. It makes her giggle.

The sign at the beginning of the hike to the falls said .25 miles. 3 miles later we were still hiking and wondering how these people measure distances. I had gotten tricked yesterday with the same crazy measurements. The distance was 1/3 of a mile. The husband and the girls stayed with the GW, and I ran off to see the Paint Pots. The trail just kept going and going. It went through a meadow, up the side of a hill, around, then back down. It was a HECK of a lot longer than the sign claimed. When I got back to the Gypsy Wagon, the Husband was a bit annoyed that I had taken so long. He thought I was just standing around looking at the paint pots. He didn’t believe me when I said the trail was a zillion miles longer than a third of a mile….until the waterfall trail.

Now, we are back on the road headed to our next destination.
There will be more photos later, my computer is dying right now.
