Weaning Warning

UPDATE #2: The next morning.
Oh my goodness! What a night!
The baby bottle of water was NOT accepted.
The pacifier was NOT accepted.
The blankie was NOT accepted.
The rocking and snuggling by the Husband was NOT accepted.

It seems as though the Little Bean wanted milk or NOTHING! She insisted that she be left to cry it out. Which was horrible. She cried and cried for 30 minutes before she finally fell asleep. It ripped my heart out. The worst part is that it wasn't over after just one time. When she woke up in the middle of the night, she wanted milk. There was no milk. The crying started again. Another 30 minutes of crying and screaming before sleeping. Then again when she woke up the second time. That only lasted about 10 minutes.

It was the worst thing ever. I tried to go in there and hold her and rock her. She wanted NONE of it. She didn't want a pacifier or her blankie or anything.

Hopefully tonight will be better. That is what the book says.... :)

UPDATE #1: We gave in and let her have a bottle with water in it. Water never hurt anyone's teeth, right?!?!

The Husband and I have decided that it is time to wean the Little Bean from her bottle. We are going to do this in stages, but we decided to take the hardest first and are going to take away the "night-night" bottle first. Tonight has already been interesting as she is super tired and doesn't understand why we are giving her a pacifier instead of milk. She is currently taking her nightly bath. Normally after the bath, she would get a bottle, then head to bed. Rather than a bottle, she is going to get a snack, and then bed. I know this will be a crazy drama and will report back all the painful details.

I have photos from tonight, but I can't find the cable that goes to the camera right now. I will work on it. If I can't find it, then perhaps they will be on tomorrow's blog.

  1. Poor baby! Poor mommy & daddy! This is why my little guy had a pre-bedtime bottle until he was 18 months old. Mommy was a sucker (still is!) Good luck!
