HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! - The Evolution of Birthday Cake

Today was the Little Bean's 1st birthday. We are having a party for her on Saturday, but thought we would get her a little cake for her real birthday. We turned down the lights and lit the candle and sang "Happy Birthday." She was so excited by the candle and the song! It was so cute. Look at that grin on her face! (don't mock the candle, it was the best thing we had at the time!) I think that she looks like a wine connoisseur for cakes in this picture. She looks as though she is swirling the icing around in her mouth to appreciate all the different flavors! Here she has gotten a little braver and is plowing into the cake!
We finally had to take the cake from her and just give her a piece of it. It was quickly destroyed and she couldn't decide which was more fun, squeezing it or shoveling it into her mouth!
By the end of the evolution the child was completely covered in cake. She looks ridiculous here. But very happy. She went straight to the bathtub! We were afraid that she wouldn't go to sleep, but stay up for hours on a super sugar high, but she went straight to bed at her normal time with no drama! Thank goodness and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
