Child or Forest Creature
Two incidents today make me wonder if the our Little Bean is really a little girl or if maybe she is a wild feral forest dweller.
Incident 1: We have one of those plastic kiddie pools on our back deck. Because of the recent deluge, the thing is totally full and also has leaves and twigs and other bits of stuff that falls from trees during a thunderstorm. Yesterday, the Little Bean discovered that the pool was full of water because her puppy siblings were drinking out of it. Even though it was only 65 degrees, she insisted on playing in it and splashing around. I let her do so until her teeth started chattering and then we came inside. It wasn't easy to get her inside even though her clothes were all wet and she was shivering. She cried in protest and presented me with one of her best tantrums. Then she took a nap. Today, it is much warmer and the sun was shining, so when I took the pups outside this morning, I let her splash in the pool again even though she was still wearing her jams. Well, she got a little carried away and ended up falling over into the pool and going completely under water. I ran over and yanked her out and she gasped from the fact that the water was SUPER COLD! I took her jams off and her diaper and she picked up a stick and went right back to playing in the water.
Wouldn't most normal kids cry and want to go inside? Wouldn't they be traumatized because they went underwater and then be afraid of the water?
Incident #2: The other day, I had the baby and the puppies out running on a trail. The Little Bean rides in her stroller and usually the bumpiness of the trail puts her to sleep. I had her sippy cup sitting on the foot rest of the stroller as she is not tall enough to be able to rest her feet there yet. A few miles into the run, I notice the Little Bean wiggling. As i watched, my daughter used her TOES to pick up the sippy cup, bent her knees and reached the cup to her hands. It was the funniest thing. Maybe ambidextrous means using your toes too!
