Happy Halloween!

The Little Bean had a pretty big night last night. Thanks to our friends J and B, she had a lady bug costume to wear. BUT the spots on it were hearts, so I called her a "Love Bug." We were pretty worried that she wouldn't wear a costume at all based on her recent rejection of all halloween costumes, but the Daddy smoothed it all over and she thought the costume was her jacket. She even put the hood up so she could keep her ears warm.
(we took the wagon with us in case she got tired, as soon as the Daddy put a blanket in, she climbed in and pretended that she was going to sleep!)
She didn't like the process at first and didn't understand what was going on, but by the end of the night, she had it all figured out. When she saw a house with the light on and would run while pointing and yelling, "House! House!" She never managed to say, "Trick or Treat." A few times she managed to mumble, "Treat" but that was about it. She had her, "Thank You" down pretty well.
(The first house gave out suckers and she HAD to have one. She was so sticky by the end of the night and both the Daddy and I had sucker stickiness in our hair!)
A few of the houses were super scary and she insisted on being carried by the scary areas. One house was particularly goulish and as we were walking towards it, she stopped dead in her tracks and started saying, "I'm Okay!" "I'm Okay!" "I'm Okay!" over and over again. I swear the child was shaking! It was so pitiful. But she didn't cry, she didn't run, just stood there and told herself that she was okay. I think that is when we decided to pack it in. She did a great job and got lots of candy.
(The Little Bean was not exactly excited about giving out candy to the trick or treaters who came to our house. In between visits, she sat and separated the candy into piles. For some reason I got all of the Milk Duds and the Daddy got all the Reeces Pieces. She took all the whoppers for herself!)

  1. She is too freakin cute. I love that she was able to talk herself out of being scared. Her Dad would have just cried when he was that age :) It's quite the tough little girl you have on your hands there.

  2. How adorable! I am so proud of her and her self assurance, an excellent quality for her to have. I am glad that she had such a good night, with little drama. So, where did you hide all of her loot?
