Fushia the Elephant Hawk Moth Larvae

This is Fushia.... or at least this is what Fushia will look like when she grows up.
Right now Fushia looks like the photo below.

This morning while weeding out front we ran across this big fat caterpillar.  After a little bit of research it was determined to be an Elephant Hawk Moth Larvae and we decided to give him a safe place to grow into a moth.  the kids are super excited and can't stop watching him chomp on his leaves.

Hank is particularly fond of Fushia and wants to hold him all the time.

Sophia is disinclined to hold Fushia as she is convinced his feet are pinchers which is understandable when you look at him up close like in the photo below.

So this is Fushia snuggled up in his new home on a nice fushia leaf.

we will keep an update of Fushia as she continues to develop.
