How to Build a Scare Cash
This week has been a little rough at the Beany house. First week of big girl school has been a bit of a struggle, but today things were looking up! The Little Bean brought home a book about how to build a scarecrow. We made a deal that if the day went well we would build a scarecrow just like in her book. The day went beautifully (thank the Lord!) so we got to work on our project.
The photo above is from step 1 where we gathered all the required items.
also note that in the above photo, Hank-bean has absolutely no interest in the project but is busy shoving as many raspberries and blackberries as possible into his mouth. Our raspberries have overgrown the blackberries and are continuing to produce huge gigantic berries. Hank ate his weight in them as we built the scarecrow! We had to take regular breaks to help him pick more.
step 2 - tie two sticks together to make a body with arms.
step 3 - put on sensible shoes instead of glittery platform flip flops. Fill one pair of mama's old pantyhose with leaves and tie to sticks to create legs. Decorating with fancy necklaces can never start too early.
Step 4 - put on shirt.
step 5 - put on pants.
tie string from the belt loops over the arms to create suspenders which keep the pants on.
step 6
help mama paint on a face, add twine hair, fancy hat, and necklaces and....
voila, you have yourself a very fancy scarecrow named Flower-rose.
Note: It is unlikely the crows will be afraid of this scarecrow, but a certain dog named Cash will be completely mortified. He has refused to go into the back yard and stands at the door barking. Even after I insisted he go and meet the scarecrow, he sniffed her and ran back to the house. Either he is going to have to make friends with her, start using the front yard, or we are going to have to move our lovely scarecrow. probably option c.
