Big Little Girl Gymnastics

It was determined that a certain little girl did not have enough structure in the younger kids gymnastics classes and needed to move up to the bigger kids class.  At first I was really nervous about this since the classes do not include parents and I could only drop her off.  She seemed okay with the idea so we decided to try it out.  She LOVED it.  She came home babbling on about the drills and the balance beam and the other girls.

Last week was "open week" where parents are allowed to observe the class.  It was fantastic.  The coaches were awesome, the kids were so cute and so well behaved.  They seemed so grown up as they lined up and did their warm-ups and drills.  It was super cute and Sophia seemed to thrive on the orderliness of the entire routine.  She watched the coaches very closely and tried to hard to mimic their movements.  It was really cute.  She did break ranks once or twice to run over and give me a kiss.

The coaches are super nice and sweet to the kids but there is also some serious discipline in that gym.
Girls must sit with their knees bent while boys sit indian style.  I think everyone would have been more comfortable sitting like the boys!
She is the cutest kid in the class!
Outside the gym as we were headed in.
She has excellent fashion sense.  I wonder how long it will be before she wants one of those little gymnastics leotard things some of the other girls have.
They were doing trampoline drills.  They had to do star jumps across the trampoline, spin around in the middle and them jump up on the red mat with feet together and arms out then hold it for two seconds.  Soph did it and was being told where to go and what to do next.
Hank nearly got us kicked out of them open day as he REALLY wanted to to join in with the kids in the class.  Since he goes to gymnastics in the same place he didn't understand why he couldn't play on the equipment like he usually does.

  1. Leotard size please? Might as well tell me so it will fit properly or she will just wear it anyway. ;)
