Donkeys..My New Favorite Animal (still love sloths)

The Donkey Sanctuary has become one of my favorite places to go.  It is amazing to spend time with those guys.  They have such personalities and sweetness.  They even have a special clinic on site where children with handicaps come for therapeutic riding sessions.  The donkeys are super sweet and gentle and loving towards them.  It only seems fitting since many of the donkeys at the sanctuary have been saved from neglect and abuse.  So much work goes into spending time with these guys to not only get them healthy again, but to help them learn to trust humans again.  It is just wonderful.

We took Nahla to the Donkey Sanctuary while she was visiting.

How gorgeous is that guy!  I want a donkey!  They are so soft and fluffy and sweet and love to snuggle!
That guy is a looker too!  He is sweet and snuggly, if not super fluffy! :)
Another fantastic thing about the Donkey Sanctuary is that it is a HUGE farm and kids can just run and run.

The main paddock houses donkeys who need extra special attention and those who love to have attention from people in the form of scratches, hugs, and other love.  Hank thought it would be fun to play hide and seek.  I think the donkey is just scratching his neck, but Hank doesn't need to know that.
The donkeys also seems to really enjoy Hank kisses.

Sophia can be very protective of her brother at times when she is not trying to kill him.  In this photo he had hid behind a tree and refused to come with us as we walked along.  Sophia went back to get him and then initiated a race back to mama and nahla.  Worked like a charm!
The donkeys seem to have a thing for Soph.  These guys were just poking around in the field when we came walking along.  They saw Sophia and made a bee line for her.  They didn't care much for the adults, but they all seemed to want to get a scratch from Phia.  When she was finished loving on them they moved on to Hank who showered them with kisses.  The funny thing is that this isn't the first time the donkeys have come to Soph.  Every time we visit the sanctuary we enjoy special visits from the Phia loving animals.  :)
