Burn Hand Bob
Hank would like to introduce you to Burn Hand Bob. This little friend came over for a visit last week.
So there Hank was, stacking firewood. Okay, so it wasn't firewood. He was pulling all the little sticks out of the kindling bucket and stacking them up. THEN putting them back in the kindling bucket and doing it all over again. The kindling bucket was situated near the stove. Hank lost his balance and caught himself with his left hand...on the super hot stove. The Daddy put cold water on it and an ice pack and off we went to the minor injuries department at the hospital. By the time we got there Hank was no longer acting as if his hand hurt. Rather than make us feel better, it made us really nervous because everyone knows how badly and for how long burns REALLY HURT! The boy was even using his hand like normal, so there was concern about nerve damage....until the nurse poked his hand with a needle to test for nerve damage. He felt it! Yeah! Poor baby! No nerve damage, just turns out that he has a high tolerance for pain.
The nurse wrapped his hand up and drew a little face on each side in hopes that he wouldn't try to pull it off. He tried to pull it off but the nurse had done a fantastic job and Hank finally just gave up and ignored it.
That night we had enchiladas and my crazy kids love buttered tortillas. Sophia thinks she is funny with a tortilla beard and eyes.
FYI: Hank-o is fine. His hand is getting better and he no longer has to wear the bandage. He doesn't even act as though it were ever hurt!
Poor Baby Hank! Maybe if his parents didn't force him to stack wood! hehehe. I am glad that he is better and sooooo tough!!!
