Road Trip - Day 2

I am sorry that I am posting this so late, but yesterday was a super busy day. We drove into Lake Meade late Tuesday night and went straight to bed. Our little two legged alarm clock woke us up around 0800 and started our crazy day.

We took both the beans down to Lake Meade and let them swim. The temps were in the 103 range, so a nice dip in the lake felt awesome. The water was around 80 degrees and the Little Bean LOVED it. She was so cute. She kicked and splashed and giggled and had a wonderful time. She could stand up but wanted either me or the Husband to hold her by her arms so she could kick her little chicken legs all over the place. The Big Bean was equally thrilled with the lake and swam and swam.
After we had our fill of swimming we decided to drive across the Hoover Dam. It was pretty cool, so we parked and walked down to see it up close. After about 15 minutes of walking we were intercepted by the dog Nazi who told us that the pup could not be on the bridge, so we had to walk all the way back up to the car without having seen the dam.

Looking for a more dog friendly area, we decided to take a short two mile hike near the wetlands area. The Little Bean loves to ride in the backpack. She sits up there and kicks her legs and looks around all over and grins at me. It is cute. She has a little sun shade that keeps the sun off her, but she pokes her little head out the side so she can see better. AND she refuses to wear a hat, so I just put sunscreen on her head. Just in case.
That night we got a private tour of the Dam from the Husband's cousin. He works in the dam regulating the water and electricity. He also troubleshoots the valves and whatnot. He has worked there for almost 20 years and was a wealth of knowledge. He took through all the little tunnels and explained how everything works. It was absolutely amazing. We were so lucky to have an opportunity to see the dam that regular tourists can't even imagine. The whole thing is on such a crazy scale, it was hard for me to wrap my head around the ideas. The Cousin used words like Gigawatts and mentioned five types of electricity was made at the dam. I didn't even know there were more than two types of electricity. The Cousin was an awesome tour guide and we really appreciated him taking the time to show us everything.
The below photo is of a bridge that they are building across the Colorado. Crazy!

By the time we were finished with everything, it was 2300 and we had to hit the road and head to Yellowstone. We drove until around 0200 and we were too tried to make it any farther. Luckily, in an RV, you can stop anywhere and sleep. So we just pulled off at a rest area and crashed.
The end of Day 2.
