Artistic Day

So far this morning we have spent a great deal of time drawing and coloring. First we spent some time outside to water the flowers, and while we were watering them, we used the sidewalk chalk to pass the time. Then we came inside and the Little Bean had to get her crayons out and color on her easel.


I think she is quite an abstract artist. She has gotten to the phase where she wants whichever crayon I am using at the time. She grabs the crayon and says, "MINE!" This is a new thing for her. We will have to start practicing the whole sharing thing.
Our toddler is also starting to use deception. She tried to draw on herself with the crayon and I told her that if she did it again, I would take her crayons away. Her response was to put the crayon behind her back and draw on her back, while staring directly at me. When that got no reaction from me, she drew on her leg. So, I took her crayons away. She didn't fuss. It is actually sort of funny. She is so used to getting into that sort of trouble that she is used to it. For example. She has a toy sword and a toy light saber that she got from mardi gras. Sometimes she gets a little to wild with them and hits the dogs. She knows that if she hits the dogs the toys get taken away. She has gotten to the point that she will get all wound up, hit the dog, and then just give me the sword and go find something else to play with.

The only other big event is that the Puppy Bean is going to be ONE YEAR OLD on 1 September! Isn't that crazy. I can't believe that he is such a big boy. I don't think he is going to have a big party or anything. :) We will have to get him a present and maybe a nice dog treat to celebrate. OH! I know! We should get an ICE CREAM CAKE! This is more for me than for the Puppy Bean, but still, it could be in his honor! :)
